Accommodation

Accomodation & Flights

The Azores has a wide range of accommodation on offer, particularly on São Miguel, Terceira and Faial. As well as hotels, there's a range of family-run guesthouses and farmhouses and very charming rural houses which can be rented throughout the islands. In Faial and Terceira there are Pousadas which are classed as “historic” or “charm” accommodation, and both offer a high standard of comfort and quality.

The islands are a haven for walkers, and those looking for something different and perhaps a more adventurous type of holiday. Visitors can explore the small villages and vineyards, eat fresh fish and try the local gastronomy, visit the museums which explain how the Azores were formed and discovered, whilst fitter walkers can tackle Europe's westernmost shoreline.

What's more, the islands are now more accessible than ever. A direct flight to the Azores from London takes just under four hours,  with SATA International running a direct weekly service from Gatwick to Ponta Delgada. Flight connections can be made to other islands from Ponta Delgada, or via Lisbon. Alternatively there are boats between some of the islands.
