Faial is an island perfect for those that want to enjoy being outdoors and basking in the sunshine. As well as this, Horta, its capital, is a small but bustling city where one can enjoy the spoils of modern life and great bars and restaurants. The island is covered in volcanic cone formations and provides endless and interesting walking tracks. The Caldeira is an enormous crater that is 6560 feet in diameter and 1300 feet deep and is classified as a natural reserve.
