São Jorge is the perfect place to get closer to nature and enjoy a relaxing holiday with plenty of magnificent vistas. Its valleys and undulating hills are covered with luscious green vegetation and its beaches are stunning.
On the island is the Ribeira Seca area is a protected nature reserve that is home to some incredible fauna and flora, as well as an underground lake and cave. There are volcanic rocks dotted around and the ruins of a couple of churches that have been destroyed by volcanoes that have erupted on the island in centuries gone by.
